Tonight: Andy Butler of Hercules and Love Affair (DJ Set: Smart Bar. 2/27/09)

Long before the his collaborative project, Hercules And Love Affair, was standing atop the disco revivalist world, Andy Butler was a DJ, spinning in leather bars in Denver and clubs in New York City. Any time he hits the turntables, we take notice. Butler and company come to Chicago, the house that house music built, tonight. (10 PM. $10 pre-midnight. $12 post-midnight. 21 & over.)

Upcoming: Tossers 15th Anniversary (Metro. 3/14/09)

Chicago's ultra-durable Irish punk sextet celebrates its 15th year with a night sure to be laced with Amstel Light, broken fiddle-strings, and the drunken quasi-antics of brothers Tony (lead singer/mandolinist) and Aaron Duggins (penny whistle). Chicagoans always seem slightly confused when the shoegazers come to town, or when indie bands draw 2,500 at the Riviera, but punk, thankfully, is a universal language. So get ready to hold your ground. "You wanted the best, but all we could find you were the motherfucking Tossers." (9 PM. $16. 18 & over.)
